I'd love to get her some adidas. However, Adidas are 1.) expensive, 2.) getting harder to find, at least as far as windpants are concerned, and 3.) they run a little small, and they are hard to find in a comfortable size for her. Put it this way, she wore a size XL in mens (that are mine) once, and they were still a little tight. Adidas aren't made for those with thick thighs, unfortunately.
I get adidas women’s size large and my wife looks like she’s the same size as your wife and they fit great but all adidas pants do fit differently. Go to eBay, I never spend more than $20 a pair including shipping.
I have been able to find classic Adidas windpants in 2xl, there is a noticeable difference in the waist/ thigh area in those compared to XL. Unfortunately they are going to be harder to find since it's been 20 years since they have made them.
