The suit is from about 1989. They were one of the first mass produced shellsuit that wasn't a sauna suit or dancewear. They were very expensive and worn at first by posh teenagers around Dublin. Since the materials are all synthetic and cheap to source though, quickly the market was flooded with cheap versions of the nike suit above.
The posh/exclusive thing was gone and they were everywhere for about a year. It was one of the best years of my life! Soon though people's parents started wearing them and they were quickly discarded. Since they were prone to ripping etc. very few survive. Most were thrown out as the herd deccided they were a fashion 'faux pas'.
It's great now though to see the look returning. A lot of cycling/running clothes are now using cire nylon as part of the look. Also the new Stella MacCartney collection embraces the look with modernistic mettallics that are so futuristic and sexy, they are a joy to behold.
In Russia and Asia the cire nylon look is making an amazing comeback. Ballet always maintains the 'garbage bag pants' look too.
wow great pics, and pants. Are they shiny feeling or do they just look shiny? Are these Vintage 80's nylon pants?
This suit is excellent! That have 100% nylon, without cotton lining. That is extremely thin, slick and shiny. They look and feel shiny. Inside you can feel slick nylon material. It's a real pleasure to touch and wear this suit!!
