I must say, I'm a little jealous...it seems like nylon windpants are a lot more popular in Russia than in the U.S. I very seldom see young women wearing them--they've pretty much gone out of style here. Hopefully they'll make a comeback.

I'm not agree. I see young women in nylon windsuit pants are not so often. Sweatsuits made of wool or velor are more popular here Women like to wear these sweetsuits more Shellsuits were popular here in 90's.
But when winter comes Russian women like to wear 2-piece nylon skisuits. I see this very often. I think it's only one positive moment in Russian winter. I can say that I hate winter, because it is so cold. I don't like cold, but I like shiny nylon.
